ANT 263 - Anthropology of South Asia (3)

This course evaluates the diverse cultural contexts and histories of South Asia through an anthropological lens. Drawing on recent ethnographic writing, the course explores contemporary social and political issues and will also evaluate and critique historical ethnographies and key tropes in the anthropology of South Asia. Students will critically engage with such topics as caste, colonialism, gender, health, family, food, globalization, migration, politics, religion, and sexuality, with attention to regional diversity and change.
