This course focuses on applying micro- and macroeconomic theory to study the efficient use of land and real estate asset pricing and investment strategies. Government policies, with a special focus on taxation and urban planning will be introduced and examined based on their impacts on poverty, racial equality and other important social issues. It introduces the topic on how demand and supply for space determine real estate asset prices and how to measure them. It explains how those measures can be used to value commercial real estate, as well as other techniques for valuation, focusing on cash-flow analysis. From there, the course explores how those valuations, financial leverage, and portfolio considerations are used to make real estate investment decisions. Same as FIN 364 .
