HIS 353 - Japanese History and Culture Through Film (3)This course is an exploration of significant cultural themes in Japanese history, such as class conflict and resolution, socialization, modernization, environmental degradation, the supernatural, and the nation at war, as portrayed in film, literature, and history. We use film as text on a greater journey to understand Japanese history and culture and experience the myriad ways that Japanese authors and directors view themselves and Japan.
