NUR 575 - Global Health, Equity, and Responsibility of the Nursing Profession (3)This course utilizes an epidemiological approach to examine global health challenges and policies. Current and emerging health priorities related to improving health and achieving health equity for all people worldwide are explored. This includes emerging infections, chronic and communicable diseases, poverty, social and economic conflicts, crises and emergencies, health inequity, health systems reforms, and major global initiatives for disease prevention and health promotion. Incidence, prevalence, and tracking systems are implemented. The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, the World Health Organization’s effort to promote health, and the holistic responsibility of the nursing profession are integrated, synthesized, and evaluated as they pertain to addressing global health inequities and health promotion.
