PXW 213 - Principles, Philosophy, and Organization of Athletics in Education (3)The course covers basic coaching/teaching philosophy and principles of athletics as integral parts of physical education and general education that highlight: (a) state, local, and national regulations, policies, and legal considerations related to athletics; (b) function and organization of leagues and athletic associations in New York State; (c) personal standards for the responsibilities of the coach as an educational leader; (d) public relations; (e) general safety procedures; and (f) general principles of school budgets, records, purchasing, and use of facilities. (Note: This is not a course in “athletic administration.” In addition to first aid and CPR, this is the only course required for coaches of non-contact/non-strenuous sports such as bowling, golf, archery, shuffleboard, and table tennis.)
