HIS 312 - American Immigration and Migration (3)As a hot-button issue, immigration may seem like it belongs to the present day; however, it’s nothing new. Immigration has been a source of debate since America’s very beginnings. Likewise, migration within the country has its own complicated past. We will explore the dynamic history of human movement not only to and within America, but in comparison with international cases. Most centrally, we will study the experiences of diverse groups of national and regional newcomers and the history of U.S. immigration policy. By the end of this course, you will have a historical perspective on current matters related to U.S. immigration and migration.
